About Pringles Aren’t Real Potato Chips? The Truth Behind the Famous Snack!

What!! But true….technically, Pringles cannot be called real potato chips. The reason is that they are not made with real potatoes. The preparation of Pringles requires dehydrated processed potatoes and not real potato slices.

Thus, it was in 1975 that FDA made it clear that the brand must call their product as ‘chips’ instead of ‘potato chips’ or must provide a disclaimer that it is ‘potato chips made from dried potatoes’. Pringles rejected these options and finally tagged their product as ‘crisps’.
